Problem: Border shows around my image.

September 19, 2007

Problem: When I insert an image i get a border around it. on screen it does not show up but plots on my sheets. How do I get rid of this border?

Solution: Type: ‘imageframe’ -Select ‘0’. This changes the border visibility to off. The only issue here is you cannot scale it after setting this variable. Just re-type ‘imageframe’ and select ‘1’ to get back to edit mode.

Problem: I’ve created a solid object with curved sections, but the display of the curved areas in the drawing window is not smooth and does not correctly represent the curves. Circles, which should also appear smooth are displaying as polygons.

Solution: This is a display accuracy issue, which is controlled by the VIEWRES system variable. VIEWRES controls the number (1 to 20000) of line segments used to display arcs, circles and ellipses, which in turn controls how smooth a curved solid displays in the drawing window. A lower setting for VIEWRES improves zoom and regeneration performance at the expense of display accuracy. You can set VIEWRES in the Options dialog box:

– From the Tools menu, choose Options.
– In the Options dialog box, choose the Display tab.

– In the Display resolution section, enter a new value in the field for Arc and circle smoothness (valid range is 1 to 20000).
– Choose OK to close the Options dialog box.

Problem: When I insert a hatch block which includes a hatch pattern I do not see the hatched portion. Also when I hatch something nothing shows up

Solution: You must set the system variable OSNAPHATCH to ‘0’.

So here it is, i’ve been collecting so many issues that seem to come up while I’m using AutoCAD and I felt that you might also appreciate the solutions that I’ve found to these problems. Feel free to stop through and post any problems that you might come across and maybe I or someone else can help. We’ll try and cover AutoCAD releases as well as REVIT.
